The SoCal Interclub DEI Committee announces the inaugural
Cathy Machado “Chado” Scholarship Contest!

This scholarship was created to honor Cathy Machado who was the first ever Mexican American to

represent the U.S. at the 1956 Winter Olympics and would pave the way for future skaters of color.

Cathy grew up, trained and coached in the Los Angeles area; she is fondly remembered by our

community.

Cathy’s legacy inspires us to strive for our dreams no matter what we perceive as our limitations.
We want to learn about your journey and how you embrace DEI in figure skating!

To learn more, please download our scholarship contest application here.

DEADLINE EXTENSION TO AUGUST 25, 2023!
